What these terms cover
These terms explain the permitted use of this website, its content and its enquiry service. The website is free to browse. You can read about lessons, explore local music guides and contact us without creating an account.
These website terms do not themselves book a lesson or replace your lesson agreement with Dave. Information on this website may still form part of your lesson contract under consumer law. Any separate agreement between a teacher and MGR Music Tuition remains separate from these website terms.
Please read these terms before using the enquiry service or reusing website material. You can print or save a copy for reference. Nothing here asks you to waive your legal rights or consent to optional cookies or unrelated marketing.
Enquiries and lesson bookings
Your lesson contract is directly with Dave Rutherford, not MGR Music Tuition Ltd. MGR Music Tuition operates this website and its enquiry service. Enquiries reach the administration team and relevant details are passed to Dave so that he can discuss lessons with you.
Sending a form or receiving an automatic acknowledgement does not book a lesson, reserve a time or create an obligation to pay. A lesson is booked when you and Dave agree the arrangement. Availability is subject to confirmation.
Before booking or paying, confirm the lesson length, date, exact location, total price including any compulsory charges, payment arrangements and cancellation terms with Dave. Ask for these details in writing so you have a record. Any additional costs, such as agreed travel, books or exam entry fees, should be explained before you commit to them. The prices page describes the currently advertised fees and arrangements. A different price or location must be made clear before you agree to book; you are free to decline a new booking. A correction to this website does not automatically change or cancel an existing booking. Changes to an agreed booking must be handled under your contract and consumer law, with your express agreement where required.
A parent or guardian should arrange lessons for a child using their own contact details. Please provide accurate contact information and only the information needed for the enquiry.
Safe and respectful lessons
Teachers, students and parents should treat each other respectfully, maintain professional boundaries and avoid harassment, discrimination or inappropriate behaviour. Responsibility for safe teaching rests with the adults providing and arranging lessons; it is not a child’s responsibility to prevent misconduct.
Before a child’s first lesson, a parent or guardian should discuss supervision, collection arrangements, how they can observe, and how communication with the child will be managed. Ask Dave about relevant safeguarding arrangements, background checks and insurance. A website listing does not itself establish that a particular check has been completed or guarantee safety.
You can raise a concern about this website, an introduction or conduct connected with lessons directly with MGR Music Tuition at info@mgrmusic.com. You do not have to approach the person involved first. Reports should include only the information needed to explain the concern. Information may need to be shared with appropriate authorities or others where lawful and necessary to protect someone; absolute confidentiality cannot be promised.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. A child-protection concern can be reported directly to the local council’s children’s social care team or the police; see GOV.UK’s reporting guidance. Do not wait for a reply to an email before seeking urgent help. These contact routes are not emergency services.
Lesson cancellations and consumer rights
Contact Dave promptly if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson. The prices page describes the advertised cancellation policy; confirm it before booking. A charge should cover the loss from your cancellation, up to the lesson fee. It should be reduced if Dave fills the slot or saves costs. Your legal cancellation rights still apply.
If Dave cancels a lesson, you should not be charged for it. If you have paid in advance, you should receive a refund for that lesson unless you choose to agree a replacement lesson. You do not have to accept credit instead of a refund you are entitled to. Other rights you may have are unaffected.
Depending on how and what you book, statutory cancellation rights may apply. Some contracts made at a distance have a cooling-off period, while exceptions can apply to certain services booked for a specific date. These website terms do not decide that every guitar lesson falls within an exception or remove any cancellation right you have. Dave should explain the rights applicable to your booking before you commit. Where a statutory cooling-off period applies, starting lessons during that period requires your express request and the required information about any payment due if you cancel. Agreeing to start early does not, by itself, waive every cancellation right.
Your rights to services performed with reasonable care and skill, and any remedies available under consumer law, remain in place. Information about a service that you take into account when deciding to book may form part of your contract. Nothing here makes that information non-binding merely because it appears online.
Website information and local guides
Lesson information is based on details supplied by the teacher. Dave is responsible for providing accurate information about his lessons and promptly notifying MGR Music Tuition when fees, teaching locations, availability or other lesson details change. MGR Music Tuition is responsible for taking reasonable care when publishing information and dealing with reported errors.
Website details may become out of date between updates. The website is not a live booking system, and a displayed price, timetable, map or address is not confirmation of a particular booking. Before booking, paying or travelling, confirm the current fee, availability and exact teaching address directly with Dave. A map pin or postcode may show the general area rather than the entrance to the teaching premises.
If you find conflicting details or an apparent pricing error, ask Dave to clarify them before making a new booking and let MGR Music Tuition know at info@mgrmusic.com. We will investigate and correct or remove inaccurate information promptly once established. A teacher’s failure to notify us does not remove our own legal responsibilities, and asking you to confirm details does not take away your rights if information is misleading or forms part of your contract.
Local shops, venues and studios can also change their services, opening arrangements and prices. Confirm practical details directly with the provider before travelling, buying equipment or making a booking.
Our guides are starting points for your own enquiries, not a guarantee of stock, availability, suitability or another business’s performance. Learning progress varies; the website does not promise a particular rate of progress or examination result.
This guidance does not exclude responsibility for misleading information or affect information that forms part of a consumer contract.
Using and sharing our content
Website text, photographs, graphics and other material belong to MGR Music Tuition or their respective owners or licensors. You may read, print and save reasonable extracts for your personal use, and share links to our pages.
Keep any author or copyright acknowledgements with copied material, and do not present altered material as our original work. Commercial republication or reuse of protected material requires permission from the relevant rights holder unless the law allows that use.
These terms do not restrict copyright exceptions or other uses permitted by law. Contact info@mgrmusic.com if you need permission for a use that is not covered.
Using the website responsibly
Please do not use the enquiry service to send spam, impersonate someone, harass others or submit unlawful material. Do not deliberately introduce malicious software, attempt unauthorised access, bypass security controls or overload the service.
We may block abusive submissions or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the service or other people. Where practical, we will explain the restriction and provide a way to raise a concern; we may need to act immediately for a security incident or serious misuse. Any disclosure of personal information will be handled in accordance with the law and our privacy notice.
You may link to our pages fairly and accurately. Do not imply an endorsement or partnership that does not exist, or frame our content so that it appears to be yours. We may ask for a misleading or unlawful link to be corrected or removed.
External websites and embedded services
Links to shops, venues and other providers help you explore their services. We do not operate those websites or make their bookings and purchases on your behalf. Check their own terms, prices and privacy information before using them.
The website also offers a Google map and Google reCAPTCHA verification. Our cookie policy explains how those services load and the browser controls available. An external link or embedded feature is not a guarantee of the provider’s service, but this does not remove our responsibility for our own statements or actions.
The map can connect to its provider before you interact with it. Google reCAPTCHA loads when you focus an enquiry form. Using these features or accepting these website terms does not give blanket consent to optional cookies or other device storage. We remain responsible for the information and any consent required for the services we include; the provider’s terms and your browser settings do not remove that responsibility.
Privacy and cookies
Our privacy statement explains the personal information used for enquiries, who receives it, retention and your rights. Our cookie policy explains cookies, embedded services and the browser controls available.
These notices provide information about our practices; browsing the website or reading these terms is not consent to optional device storage, unrelated marketing or every use of personal information.
Our responsibility to you
MGR Music Tuition is responsible for its own website and enquiry-service obligations. Dave is responsible for the lessons he contracts to provide directly to you. This distinction does not exclude liability that MGR Music Tuition has under the law for its own actions or omissions.
If our breach of a legal duty causes you loss, your entitlement to a remedy is determined by the applicable law. These terms do not impose a financial cap on that liability or a blanket exclusion of responsibility for the website’s content.
We do not exclude or restrict liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not exclude your statutory consumer rights.
We take reasonable steps to operate the website securely, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every technical fault will be avoided. Use an up-to-date browser and appropriate device security. This advice does not transfer our legal responsibilities to you.
Changes and availability
We may update content, fix errors or temporarily restrict the website for maintenance or security. Where a planned interruption materially affects the enquiry service, we will aim to provide notice and an alternative contact route. If the form is unavailable, you can email us.
We may revise these website terms to reflect changes to the service or the law. The revision date appears at the top of this page. Changes apply prospectively; they do not retrospectively remove rights or alter an existing lesson booking. A separate change to a lesson contract must be dealt with between you and Dave.
Concerns, complaints and applicable law
For a website or enquiry-handling concern, email info@mgrmusic.com with enough information for us to investigate. For an ordinary booking or teaching issue, contact Dave so that he can try to resolve it. If that would be inappropriate, including for a safeguarding concern, you can contact MGR Music Tuition directly using the route above. If your concern also involves MGR Music Tuition’s conduct, you can raise that with us directly.
We will consider concerns fairly and seek to resolve them. You do not have to give up a legal remedy or use compulsory arbitration to raise a complaint.
These website terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of mandatory protections or rights to bring proceedings in your local courts where applicable. In particular, consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland can bring proceedings there. For business users, disputes about these website terms are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
