The Guitar Workshop gives my adult private students a chance to put their learning into practice with other musicians. Sessions are relaxed, practical and built around songs, with parts suited to the players taking part.

Who can join?
The Workshop is currently a closed group for adults I teach privately. You do not need to be an advanced guitarist or have previous band experience. Talk to me about whether the current group and material are suitable for you.
If you are not currently a private student, start by asking about individual lessons. Joining the Workshop is a separate discussion, not a guaranteed part of booking a lesson.
Playing with other musicians
We work on songs and explore rhythm, lead playing, improvisation, timing, dynamics and listening. Where appropriate, sessions can include bass and drums so you can hear how your guitar part sits within a fuller band sound.
Playing together means keeping time, leaving space for other parts and recovering when something goes wrong. We can slow a passage down, organise different parts and work through it together.
Equipment and practical skills
Bring your guitar and equipment if you would like to become more familiar with your own setup. Equipment may also be available depending on the session; check with me beforehand.
We can explore tone, effects, amplifier setup, monitoring, rehearsing effectively and preparing a song for performance.
From rehearsal to performance
I have organised student band nights and performance opportunities over the years. Where opportunities are available, students who want to perform can work towards using their skills on stage. Performing is optional; enjoying music at home is an equally valid goal.
Ask about the current group
Ask me about the current venue, dates, session length, price and available places before making plans. These arrangements are confirmed directly rather than booked online.
Ask Dave about The Guitar Workshop or explore private lessons.
